last blog

I started clicking through all the links and I finally found one that sparked my interest. I choose to write this blog about Gorillaz. Gorillaz are a British virtual band created in 1998 by musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett. I wanted to research a band that I was not familiar and this one seemed easy enough where I could find enough information. Gorillaz announced that with their first three singles that the start of each video contained "Sprit House 360" which was an eerie trip through a supernatural house filed with groovy tunes and psychedelic imagery. People could use a virtual headset to get the full Gorillaz spooky experience. Soon after their success with Spirit House 360 the band released an app that allowed their fans to have a sneak peak of the band members rooms and discover Easter eggs. The cherry on top of all their technology success was when the did an interview as their animated characters. A local DJ did an interview with them where they sat on

FINAL- performance video

For the final project I was totally unsure what I was going to 'perform'. My initial thought was going to be me at the mall playing marco polo with the local shoppers. We just did not have enough time to go to the mall so then I randomly decided to do cartwheels around campus, me recording myself doing one handed cartwheels. We started out in our dorm and basically did one big loop around campus while video taping the location we were at and me doing cartwheels. An interesting fact about me is that I am obsessed with chapstick.  You will never find me without any on me. So just to add some character to the video I decided to do the cartwheels while holding chapstick in my mouth. I actually enjoyed doing as many cartwheels as I did. Towards the end my left elbow definitely was getting sore but today it feels fine! There were not that many people around campus which I didn't mind but it would have been more a 'performance' if there were. For the music aspects of my

For my grid project I enlarged a skull that I had saved on my camera roll. I decided to add my facial features to the skulls face, so I printed out a bunch of different pictures of my face, enlarged them, and then cut and attached them to the skull. It's hard to see but I also added my legs to the bottom of the skull. I thought I needed to add more so I went with the idea to color paper and cut hair like strands and add them to the skull representing my hair.   This project was probably my favorite. It shows creativity and was not too difficult.

Grid project

For my grid project I decided to go with the photo of Rosie the Riveter. I first graded the photo of Rosie and then I started coloring my paper with the minimal colors that I had. I only had skinny markers and a few thick markers. I numbered the grid so it would be easier when I laid them down and it did help a ton. Like mentioned before I was limited to colors so when a color matched one of my post it notes I just cut the post it note and taped it to my square. The end project did not end up what I expected it to be but I think I managed to capture the pixelated picture like I was supposed to. Overall I did enjoy completing this project even if it was harder than I expected!

Opera Essay

Julia Christensen Gregg Perkins Art & Technology 11 January 2019 Aeneas and Dido     Aeneas and Dido was composed by Henry Purcell in 1689. It is a love story similar to Romeo and Juliet. From the get go the mise en scene of this opera is very bold. The opening scene has actual fire which does not seem note worthy but if you think of the time period it is extraordinary. Dido feels no self worth in the beginning so the lighting is very dim. Besides the fire there are few light sources so it helps us viewers understand how the mood is. In almost every shot you can see shadows in the back from the fire. Dido being the queen that she is, is dressed to impress in an elegant dress with gold shimmer, even her hair is laced with what seems to be pearls or some fancy rope. When it is her alone in the room I noticed that her mirror was unusually dirty. Probably intended to reflect her feeling of worthlessness, loneliness, and desire. Dido’s makeup throughout the Opera stays simila

Stop motion video- with Amanda

This project was not what we were expecting. Out first shot at it was a little rough but after we shot it again we got the hang of it about half way through. The story we are trying to portrait is a story of one yogi who gets upset that she is doing yoga alone but then her friend pops up for a surprise! The two continue to do yoga. They each present each other with gifts and enjoy each others company. They both appear and disappear throughout the video to add some illusion. Overall we both enjoyed completing this project.
How the cellphone has evolved blog entry: The cellphone has come a long long way since the beginning. Some could argue that the cellphone has taken over todays society. It is hard to find a single person who does not own a cellphone. It is eve hard to find somebody who doesn't own a smart phone. We have transformed into a world where most couldn't even survive without one. To think back to a time where you had to get a dictionary to know how to spell words is odd to think about. Technology is all around us. Everywhere you look. Just to be able to take a photograph using a little rectangular box in your pocket can be mind boggling. From the initial use of technology you could do multiple different things, like a camera, you could take a photograph, to type something using a typewriter, using a dictionary, call someone, all of these things can now be found on one item in your pocket, there are also numerous apps that allow you to draw! In my opinion the definition of the cell

STAGE DOOR blog comments

One that stood out to me right away was Michael Bublé. I have been a fan of Michael since before he was well known. His rendition of 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' is also one of my favorites. It appears he is performing on a TV show but I'm not sure which show. The set up however is very coordinated with Christmas, obviously. The lights and bright stars in the background set a mood that you only get to feel around Christmas time. I really enjoyed this clip on the blog. Barbra Streisand is a name I know of but am not familiar with. So I decided to watch the clip with her about the show 'Play Bill', which is also a title I recognize but am not familiar with. An odd thing I noticed right away was that Barbra's hair was crimped to what seems the smallest it could be. I'm sure it has noting to do with the clip but it adds to her character that I do not know. The clip I watched was about the recording process and her singing the famous song 'Fifty
